Welcome to the Somali Community Safety Framework!

We are a community of local and international NGOs, UN agencies and academic institutions seeking to advance community security in the Somali regions. We came together under the umbrella of the Somali Community Safety Framework in order to adopt common principles; advance our common knowledge in related practice areas; map out who is doing what in the districts we are operating in; work together on adopting a common monitoring and assessment system; and coordinate our activities in the field through a common calendar of events.

Please browse the site to find out more about our work, or sign in to become a member and receive our monthly updates.

Youth for Change essentially provides a change in mindset, behaviour, attitude, opportunities, and interaction with the community. It is a dynamic programme developed to engage with the Somali Youth who are otherwise at-risk of being engaged in criminal and violent activities.  The programme is designed to, most importantly; reduce levels of crime and violence through providing rehabilitative programming for youth through strengthened linkages between civil society and government structures. This phase will incorporate into the programme restorative justice measures to complement the formal systems through providing an alternative to incarceration. This model will then support the official development of parole and probation. Read More
